MARIN, CALIF. —PlantBaby is expanding its plant-based beverage brand Kiki Milk with a line of organic protein milk.
Kiki Milk Protein is formulated with oats and sacha inchi, an Amazonian seed rich in plant protein.
Each serving contains 10 grams of plant protein, 4 grams of fiber, nine amino acids, omega-3 fatty acids and naturally occurring antioxidant compounds.
“The problem with most protein beverages is the quality of the protein,” said Alex Abelin, co-founder of PlantBaby. “When you create a protein isolate, the ingredient typically goes through significant processing to separate the protein from the rest of the seed. In that process, you can lose naturally occurring components like fiber, healthy fats, and other nutrients that are part of the whole food. We started with sacha inchi because it’s naturally rich in high-quality protein, and our goal was to preserve the seed as close to its original form as possible — delivering protein in a way that works with the whole-food nutrition of the plant.”
The milk may be purchased online at KiKiMilk.com and Amazon.
