As the pressure to transition from artificial to naturally derived colors grows due to evolving regulations and consumer expectations, having a partner equipped to support your business across critical stages of product development matters more than ever. Food and beverage manufacturers need partners that can ensure both innovation and supply security while addressing consumer concerns and the dynamic nature of federal and state regulations. With our industry-leading Colors From Nature® portfolio and global sourcing capabilities, ADM is perfectly poised to support color reformulation challenges.
Resilience starts at the source
ADM’s diversified sourcing strategy begins from the ground up. Full vertical integration from field to fork and close relationships with growers and suppliers strengthen the reliability of our supply and quality. As we look to the future, we are investing in long-term sourcing resilience through major global initiatives, including the development of annatto capacity in Brazil, the expansion of huito fruit capacity in Brazil and Peru, and increased black carrot capacity across Europe.
How we support increasing demand
To increase our production capabilities of food and beverage color solutions, ADM is investing in manufacturing capacity and scalability. From craft to commercial applications, our global production footprint can support customer growth at every scale. Building on a recent $26 million investment in the Erlanger, Kentucky, campus to strengthen our reformulation capabilities, we’re investing more than $16 million to expand our Boone County, Kentucky, facility. The planned additional 14,000 square feet of manufacturing space and state-of-the-art production capabilities will allow ADM to focus on innovation and addressing shifting consumer preferences in order to simplify the reformulation process for our U.S. customers.
“By combining our global raw material network, localized manufacturing capabilities, and deep formulation expertise, ADM is well-positioned to help customers bring products to market that meet consumer expectations for appearance, taste, clean-label appeal, and performance.”
– Calvin McEvoy, ADM President of Global Flavors
Enhancing reliability through technology and innovation
ADM is committed to providing color solutions that deliver consistency, efficiency, and performance. That’s why we’ve invested in advanced mixing technology at the Erlanger campus, the expansion of micronized pigment production capacity, and aseptic packaging capabilities for ready-to-use liquid colors. Our commitment extends to continuous innovation across our portfolio, leveraging advancements in areas such as precision fermentation, performance optimization, shade development, and cost-in-use improvements to help customers succeed in a dynamic market.
