MINNEAPOLIS — Jessica McDonald has been promoted to chief executive officer of Back to Nature Foods, a plant-based snack and baked foods brand owned by the Barilla Group. She succeeds Jennifer Jorgensen, who had held the post since December 2022.
McDonald most recently was head of finance and chief of staff at Back to Nature since March 2023. Earlier, she was director of financial planning and analysis at Welly Health PBC. Prior to Welly Health she spent many years at General Mills, Inc. in a variety of finance roles, including finance manager for the company’s meals and baking operating unit.
She received a bachelor’s degree in finance at the University of Minnesota — Carlson School of Management and a master’s degree in business administration at the University of Michigan — Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
“Jessica has been with Back to Nature since we began building our all-new team in 2023, and we can’t think of a more qualified leader to carry the torch … or snack board,” Back to Nature noted in a June 3 LinkedIn posting. “In addition to financial and people expertise, she’s got a wealth of experience in strategy, sales, marketing, operations and supply chain.”
