BURLINGTON, VT. — The Farmer Cos. has named Randy Johnson as its latest chief executive officer. He will succeed the company’s founder Adam Farmer, who will transition to the role of chairman.
Johnson joins The Farmer Cos. from Dot’s Pretzels, helping raise its annual sales from $19 million to $250 million in three years and just before it was acquired by The Hershey Co. in 2021, The Farmer Companies said.
“Under Randy’s leadership, Dot’s Pretzels became one of the greatest success stories in snacking history. Randy set Dot’s up for a strategic next step, and led the company through its transformational growth phase,” Farmer said. “Bringing him on means The Farmer Cos. can build toward our goal of redefining cheese snacking for the next generation. Our business model is clear; we make the highest-quality cheese snacks with the best cheeses in the world. Randy is leading our business to new heights.”
Since 2021, The Farmer Cos. has been building a notable cheese snack portfolio that includes Whisps cheese crisps brand and the Cabot Creamery Popcorn brand, the latter of which is produced as part of an exclusive licensing agreement with Cabot Creamery and has now grown to become one of the top 13 US food brands, according to Chicago-based market research firm NielsenIQ. The Farmer Cos. closed $17 million of Series A financing, led by Raff Ventures and AJAX Capital Partners, in July, which will be used to support continued investment in manufacturing partnerships, national distribution and strategic acquisitions.
