LONDON — Tate & Lyle PLC and Manus, a bio-alternatives scale-up platform based in Boston, have launched Yume, a sweetener brand, through their partnership that began in 2024. Yume comes from the Japanese word for dream.
The brand’s first ingredient is Yume M, a stevia-derived sweetener produced at a Manus stevia bioconversion facility in Augusta, Ga.
“Our partnership accelerates the growth of ingredients that meet society’s evolving nutrition needs and industry’s growing need for security of supply,” said Nick Hampton, chief executive officer of London-based Tate & Lyle. “Yume M stevia, our all-Americas stevia Reb M, gives our customers expanded access to innovative, cost-competitive sugar-reduction solutions.”
Abigail Storms, vice president global platform, sweeteners and fibers at Tate & Lyle, said, “Yume will help brands reduce sugar while elevating flavor — today and into the future. Yume M stevia unlocks the sweetest parts of stevia leaves through science and innovation.”
