MINNEAPOLIS — General Mills Inc. has tapped Jonathan Ness as its chief supply chain officer after the company veteran held the role in an interim capacity over the past month.
Plans call for Ness to take over the supply chain chief’s post full-time effective March 16, overseeing the company’s global supply chain operations, Minneapolis-based General Mills said. He will report to Jeff Harmening, chairman and chief executive officer.
Previously vice president of global supply chain strategy, finance and operations, Ness was named interim supply chief in late January with the departure of Paul Gallagher, who left the company to join 3M as enterprise supply chain group president. Gallagher had held the chief supply chain officer role at General Mills since June 2021.
“Jon has been a driving force in shaping our supply chain organization, leading critical strategy and transformation initiatives throughout his tenure at General Mills,” Harmening said. “He is a people-first leader and well-positioned to continue our important work driving end-to-end supply chain performance, resilience and operational excellence.”
General Mills noted that, in his nearly 20 years at the company, Ness has held leadership positions in supply chain strategy, global finance, manufacturing, procurement and transformation roles. He joined the company in 2007 as a commercial senior finance analyst in the foodservice division. Before coming to General Mills, he served as an officer in the United States Air Force, where he specialized in procurement.
