ROTTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS — The Louis Dreyfus Co. has commissioned its new pea protein isolate production facility in Yorkton, Sask.
“Global demand for pea proteins continues to grow — for its non-allergen and non-GMO status as well as its versatility across many food applications,” said Charles-Antoine Dubois, global head of plant proteins for Rotterdam-based LDC. “We are proud to offer clean taste pea protein isolates, sourced from North American farmers with full supply chain traceability, enabled through our upstream integration and engagement across the value chain.”
LDC, when announcing plans for the plant in 2024, said it will enable the company to offer functional ingredients for dairy alternatives, high-protein nutrition solutions and other plant-based applications. LDC also will commercialize pea fiber and a proprietary pea starch produced at the Yorkton facility for the pet food, building materials and paper industries.
