
LENEXA, KAN. — Corbion has introduced LUMI Set, a boil-up type icing stabilizer for water-based icings that contains no titanium dioxide. It supports the texture, stability and application performances that bakers depend on in water-based icings like thick icings and string icings, according to the company.
“Titanium dioxide restrictions are creating real urgency for bakers, and we designed LUMI Set to give them a clear path forward,” said Abby Ceule, vice president, functional systems at Corbion. “This isn’t just about compliance. It’s about making sure bakers can maintain the visual quality their customers expect while keeping pace with a regulatory landscape that’s changing fast.”
While Walmart is eliminating titanium dioxide from its private label brands, the European Food Safety Authority banned its use in the European Union.
