CORONA, CALIF. — Food For Life Baking Co. has added organic sprouted bagels to its Ezekiel 4:9 bread line.
Much like other options in the lineup, including the flourless pita and flourless flax tortillas, the bagels are produced using the company’s signature sprouting technique known for enhancing nutrition, aiding in the absorption of minerals, providing a more balanced pH, increasing digestibility, breaking down starches, and reducing the glycemic index of individual bagels. Combining a wide variety of freshly sprouted grains and legumes, including wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet and spelt, the bagels end up containing 18 amino acids with half of them being considered “essential,” according to the company. The bagels are slowly baked to help maintain the grains’ nutrient-dense properties, including fiber. The bagels are certified organic, non-GMO, kosher and vegan in addition to being made without artificial preservatives, oils or shortenings.
“Year after year, bagels are the No. 1 product that Food For Life’s loyal fans have been requesting that we create,” said Gary Torres, company principal of Food. “With the launch of our Ezekiel 4:9 Organic Sprouted Bagels, we are incredibly happy to deliver something truly innovative that doesn’t compromise on nutrition or taste.”
Food For Life organic sprouted bagels come in two flavors, original and everything, and in four-count bags. They are available in the freezer section at natural food stores and select supermarkets across the United States, the company said.
