PARSIPPANY, NJ. — B&G Foods Inc. said it has hired a new chief executive officer in announcing that Kenneth “Casey” Keller, the current president and CEO, is retiring from his post this week.
Plans call for Keller to step down as CEO and as a board director on Aug. 7, Parsippany-based B&G said, noting that he and the company “mutually agreed” on the move. B&G said Keller’s successor, currently serving in a “senior leadership position at another public company,” has accepted its offer to become B&G’s new CEO but requested that his name be withheld until B&G formally announces his hiring and additional transition details in coordination with the reporting requirements of his current employer.
“On behalf of our entire company, I want to thank Casey for his contributions to B&G Foods, including his efforts to begin reshaping our portfolio to sharpen focus, simplify our portfolio, improve margins and cash flow, and maximize future value creation,” said Stephen Sherrill, chairman of B&G. “Casey helped guide B&G Foods through challenging times for our industry, including post-COVID supply chain disruption, price inflation and unprecedented tariffs. I wish Casey the best of luck in his retirement and continued success in all his future endeavors.”
Keller has been president and CEO of B&G since June 2021, joining the company from JDE Peet’s NV, where he held the same role. Before that, he was CEO of Peet’s Coffee, global president of Mars Inc. subsidiary Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. and US president of Alberto Culver. His background also includes leadership posts at Motorola, HJ Heinz and Procter & Gamble.
B&G said Keller will assist the company with the leadership transition on an ongoing basis.

Importantly, we have begun to reshape our portfolio through our recent divestiture and acquisition activity, and I believe the dedicated and resilient team at B&G Foods will guide the company towards a bright future. I wish the entire B&G Foods family all the best.”
Back in May, Keller said in a quarterly earnings call that B&G has made “major progress” in revamping its product roster and was nearing completion of its portfolio rebuild through divestitures and acquisitions, headlined by the sale of the Green Giant US frozen vegetables business and the purchase of the Collagen and Kitchen Basics broth and stock businesses. The acquisition and divestiture activity, however, led B&G to halve its dividend. Meanwhile, the company has struggled financially, finishing its 2025 fiscal year and fiscal 2026 first quarter with net losses and declined net sales.
