KANSAS CITY — Foodservice operators are refreshing their menus following the beginning of the new year.
JDE Peet’s subsidiary Peet’s Coffee has expanded its Vitality menu with three protein smoothies. Formulated with banana puree and whey protein, the smoothies include a cold brew variety with 16 grams of protein, a matcha peach variety with 19 grams of protein and a strawberry variety with 18 grams of protein. The company also has partnered with pistachio milk maker Táche to offer a pistachio rose latte and a pistachio matcha latte.
“As our customers reset for the new year, we’re excited to continue to bring beverage offerings that are both protein-powered and delicious,” said Katie Keil, chief marketing officer at Peet’s. “Our expanded protein smoothie lineup delivers balanced energy without compromising on flavor.”
Subway has launched a convenient protein innovation with its protein pockets line. The grab-and-go tortilla wraps offer more than 20 grams of protein per serving, with baja chicken, peppercorn ranch chicken, Italian trio and turkey and ham varieties.
“Getting more protein in their diet is important to so many people, but all too often that protein is expensive or fried,” said Dave Skena, chief marketing officer, North America, for Subway.
Paris Baguette is experimenting with sweet and salty flavor combinations through its new salted caramel pretzel collection. Available through the beginning of March, the salted caramel pretzel line includes a croissant crisp, a supreme croissant, a king cream donut, a latte, a matcha latte and a cold brew.
“As we step into the new year, we’re bringing the coziness of the season to our guests with a new sweet-and-salty lineup of salted caramel pretzel treats,” said Cathy Chavenet, chief marketing officer at Paris Baguette North America. “These handcrafted pastries and beverages are designed to bring indulgence and warmth to winter days and invite guests to savor every moment this season.”
