Slideshow: New products from Tattooed Chef, Kodiak and Caulipower

KANSAS CITY — Frozen food innovations are making their way into the frozen aisle.

Planted Ventures, LLC is expanding its Tattooed Chef brand with a frozen pizza line formulated with a cottage cheese-based crust. The pre-made pizzas are offered in four varieties: killer bee, spicy vodka, bianca and four cheese.

 “Our new cottage cheese crust pizzas are a major step forward in the alternative pizza space,” said Sarah Galletti, founder of Tattooed Chef. “They deliver more protein than any frozen pizza out there, with incredible flavor and texture that make better-for-you pizza exciting.”

Kodiak Cakes is rolling out frozen waffles with no added sugar. The waffles are formulated with 100% whole grains and coconut oil, with 16 grams of protein per serving.

“Crafted with 100% whole grains, packed with protein, and made with no added sugar, we’ve blazed a new trail in the freezer aisle with a waffle that truly stands alone,” said Sonali Dalvi, vice president and head of research and development at Kodiak.  “Using high-quality, real ingredients is a standard our community has come to expect, and we’re excited to continue to deliver.”

Caulipower is rolling out a line of single-serve entrees, including pizzas and meat bowls.

The gluten-free pizzas are made with a cauliflower crust and offer 21 grams of protein, 4 grams of fiber and 340 calories. The pizzas are available in cheese and margherita varieties.

Two prepared bowls are available in fajita veggies and chicken and cauliflower rice risotto and grilled chicken options. The fajita veggies and chicken bowl offers 18 grams of protein and 210 calories, and the cauliflower rice risotto and grilled chicken bowl offers 19 grams of protein and 280 calories.
