CINCINNATI — Greg Foran is the new chief executive officer of The Kroger Co. His appointment is immediate and he will succeed Ron Sargent, interim CEO, who will continue as chairman of the board.
“Greg is a highly respected operator who knows how to run large-scale retail businesses, strengthen store execution and lead high-performing teams,” Sargent said. “His leadership style, focus on the customer, commitment to associates, and disciplined approach to execution are the perfect fit for Kroger. The board is confident Greg is the right leader to guide Kroger into its next chapter.”
Foran was most recently CEO of Air New Zealand. Before that, he led Walmart US.
While at Walmart, Foran was integral to the company’s digital transformation, helping design how the physical store network could support ecommerce at scale, according to The Kroger Co. By aligning tools, processes and training, he helped integrate online and in-store operations to improve fulfillment speed and overall customer experience.
Kroger’s CEO position opened up in March 2025when Rodney McMullen resignedfollowing an internal investigation into his personal conduct while CEO of the retailer.
