
YORK, PA. — Meiji America Inc., a subsidiary of Meiji Co. Ltd., will invest $65 million in upgrading existing equipment and establishing Hello Panda cookie production at its York, Pa., facility, which supports the Meiji America subsidiary Stauffer’s.
The company said the investment will continue to build sales and distribution momentum for the cookies with smoother collaborations and flexibility with retailers. According to Chicago-based consumer intelligence company NielsenIQ, Hello Panda cookies have seen a 34% and a 59% year-over-year growth in sales and distribution, respectively. in the 52 weeks ended Jan. 17.
Renovations and installations will commence in 2026 with packaging to start in 2027 and full production to start in 2028, Meiji America said. The new Hello Panda production is expected to create new jobs and increase collaboration with local businesses, thus boosting manufacturing by 50%. Current partnerships include an engineering company in Philadelphia as well as local contractors and millwrights for equipment installation and building modifications.
“Seeing Meiji Hello Panda’s growth has only continued to motivate our team here at Meiji America to keep working hard to deliver treats in the accessible and high-quality fashion we are known for,” said Ron Fink, chief operating officer of Meiji America Inc.
Meiji America previously invested $28 million to increase the Hello Panda production capacity at its Santa Ana, Calif.-based facility.
