CHICAGO — Mondelez International has hired former Kellanova executive Amit Banati as executive vice president and chief financial officer, succeeding Luca Zaramella, who has been serving in the dual role of chief operating officer and CFO.
Plans call for Banati to take the CFO reins on July 1. He will report directly to Dirk Van de Put, chairman and chief executive officer, and become a member of the Mondelez leadership team. Chicago-based Mondelez said Zaramella will continue as executive vice president and COO and focus on the company’s commercial operations, including its four geographical regions, corporate sales, marketing and supply chain functions.
“Amit is a highly experienced CFO who brings a strong blend of financial leadership and commercial acumen spanning multiple consumer businesses,” Van de Put said. “His track record of delivering results and building talent across large, global businesses as a CFO, alongside his breadth of general management and emerging market experience, will provide important perspective to our leadership team. I look forward to working with him to deliver against our strategic growth agenda.”
Most recently, Banati was CFO of Kenvue Inc. He joined the consumer health care company in May 2025 after 20 months as vice chair and CFO of Kellanova, which completed its separation from The Kellogg Co. in October 2023. Prior to that, Banati spent more than 13 years at Kellogg, including over 7 years as president for the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa region and then nearly 6 years as senior vice president and CFO.
The CFO appointment will mark Banati’s second stint at Mondelez. He spent almost six years at Cadbury Schweppes, most recently as president for the Pacific region, until its acquisition by Mondelez predecessor company Kraft Foods in early 2010, after which time he was president of North Asia and Asia-Pacific strategy. Before that, Banati spent nearly 14 years at Procter & Gamble Co., most recently as director of finance for beauty care in the Asia-Pacific region.
“I am delighted to rejoin Mondelez International,” Banati said. “I am excited to return to a company and set of brands that I know well. The company has an iconic portfolio, an advantaged global footprint and a talented team. I look forward to working closely with Dirk and the entire team to advance the company’s strategy, achieve its significant growth potential and continue its strong track record of profitable growth.”
Mondelez had named Zaramella to the dual COO-CFO role effective Feb. 1. In that post, which marked the creation of the COO title at Mondelez, Zaramella oversaw the snacking company’s commercial operations across its geographical regions plus its corporate sales, marketing and supply chain functions, in addition to his duties as CFO. At the time, Mondelez noted that the expanded role for Zaramella, who has been global CFO since August 2018, would be only temporary, as the company was conducting a search for a full-time CFO.
“I want to thank Luca for his outstanding contributions over eight years as CFO, during which he played a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy and strengthening our company,” Van de Put said. “We will continue to benefit from his strong leadership as chief operating officer, focusing on driving durable, profitable growth and value creation.”
