DENVER — Joseph E. Scalzo has returned as president and chief executive officer at The Simply Good Foods Co. Scalzo succeeds Geoff Tanner, effective immediately.
Scalzo previously was hired as the company’s CEO in July 2017 and held the executive position until July 2023. He also was executive vice chairman until August 2024.
When he previously was with the company, which owns such brands as Atkins, OWYN and Quest, Scalzo oversaw its debut in the public markets in 2017 fueling growth.
Scalzo also aided in the acquisition of Quest.
“Joe is a visionary in our industry widely admired by our team and partners alike for his role as the key architect of the business over the course of the last decade,” said James Kilts, chairman of the board of directors of Simply Good Foods. “We are pleased to welcome him back as we embark on a new chapter of driving growth and creating value for our stockholders.”
Tanner was named president, chief operating officer and CEO in January 2023. Prior to joining Simply Good Foods, Tanner was chief commercial and marketing officer for the J.M. Smucker Co. Tanner also has held leadership positions at Del Monte Foods and Big Heart Pet Brands.
